The fast pace of development of digital technology and solutions, and the high ability to customize them for client needs makes it extremally hard to stay abreast of all changes and new solutions and offerings out in the marketplace. Hence, it is very hard for the Offering Managers (OM) to navigate through the complex processes needed to prepare and bring new offerings to the market. New or changing capabilities, platforms and requirements to understand make existing/legacy processes siloed and not well integrated with new processes. Roles and responsibilities for the launch process are often unclear and playing catch-up on missed key activities which are only discovered late in the release cycle forcing the Offering Managers to spend their valuable time on internal processes instead of being better spent on researching and understanding their markets, competitors, strategy and running their businesses.
The Offering Launch Hub was deployed in July 2018 to reduce OM's frustration and accelerate new offering launch. The OLH is an Offering Manager’s (OM) starting point for all things related to getting an offering developed and launched for general availability (GA) at IBM. The Offering launch covers the project work that runs in parallel to the offering design, routes to market, business planning and investment work of the Offering Management discipline process.
An integral component of OLH is the IBM Watson OM Assistant, a cognitive chatbot tool powered by the IBM BlueSeller AI platform, which allows OMs to get answers to specific questions around offering launch with 24/7 support instantly covering topics such as Product Identifier Descriptions (PIDs), Price and Routing Tracking (PART), configuring and quoting, etc. The OLH and the associated tools can be accessed from both desktop & mobile devices making Offering Managers more efficient.
Since the beginning of 2019 (nine-month period), the Offering Launch Hub transformed the way that OMs work, saving over 2,000 hours for the OM community. Roughly 2,400 OLH sessions were conducted, which represented 130% usage increase. The Hub improved OM productivity and efficiency also by consolidating over 100 different sources for documents scattered in various locations and formats across IBM enterprise to one single location.
