Resideo's 2021 AWARD FINALIST CASE STUDY: Best Achievement in Operational Excellence to deliver Digital Transformation

Global Product Scale with Product Information Management (PIM)

As a company that is a global manufacturer of thousands of products that are in millions of homes throughout the world, Resideo's leadership recognized that finding a solution to manage product data and assets efficiently for internal and external partners was paramount. It became even more important following our spinoff from Honeywell in 2018 as we had to update all physical and digital branded products and assets to comply with our new brand licensing.
 
Resideo's digital team worked with teams across the globe to identify the key requirements, the right solution and implement the foundational capability of a Product Information Management platform. In three years, the team transformed our inefficient legacy processes and platforms that fed into our Customer partners' product information databases – descriptions, images, specs and assets.
 
We built a solution and set of processes targeted to address product data accuracy and efficiency.
 
• Centralized Product Information. We configured and deployed the Enterworks Product Information Management (PIM) platform in North America and EMEA – the first centralized PIM system within Resideo.
• Integration. We connected the PIM into our flagship B2C and B2B websites of resideo.com and honeywellhome.com which allowed decommission of 20 global websites.
• Syndication to Key Partners. To date we have launched syndicated product content to 35 global distributor partners allowing them to seamlessly have the most up to date product data and assets to power their business. These partners represent 20% of Resideo's revenue today.
• Self Service Request & Data Cleansing. We created a Jira ticketing system to allow for requests and updates to be requested and completed. Included in this process is a review and cleanse of the data before publishing to increase accuracy.
This digital and business transformation impacted 5,700+ SKUs in 18 countries across 35 partners and platforms, addressing four key challenges:
• Manual Process. Key Partners across the globe were unable to receive data from our legacy product data platforms, which required manual updates.
• Time + Accuracy. Manual processes across multiple data platforms and teams caused inaccurate branding and data, which resulted in extra time to update product information.
• Resources. IT had to support and maintain multiple platforms globally.
• Global Impact. Translation technology could not be used due to disparate data systems
 
The benefits of this project are clear to our customers and employees. Customer NPS with our top Tier Distributors has improved, solving a legacy pain point. In fact, one of our partners was impressed that we were able to pull this off, as Honeywell Corp was never able to do this. Additionally, we cut workload by 50% for rebrand efforts for 1,500+ SKUs for Channel Marketing, Retail and Marcom teams and now can enable translation technology.
