Daily Management: Reducing Order Booking and Purchasing Times

Accelerated order delivery of Philips Vue PACS for Radiology customers puts the latest technology in hands of healthcare providers faster, helping hospitals improve outcomes sooner. Using Daily Management, this project reduced booking time by 70% and purchasing times by 40% in the first few months with successful sustainment.
 
To implement daily management, the team started with data and focused on streamlining cross-functional processes where lag time and delay were occurring. Sustainment and continuous improvement are driven through daily management reviews and tracking trends over time using run charts and moving range (MR) charts. The project key performance indicators (KPIs) are reviewed weekly and reported monthly.
 
SAP® data is the basis for the weekly status reviews and KPI reporting. This data is run using a transaction called ZVMOT. The daily management practice uses this data for team cadence calls. Through the data reviews, the team performs problem solving review and identifies corrective actions.
 
An innovative tracker called the “Big Board” brings a quick and easy visual control of orders for capacity planning and project timing. The board enables cross-functional review and alignment within Philips, with Philips leadership, and for third party coordination. A weekly meeting cadence uses this Big Board to set the project schedules and timing across the teams. All the information is available on a Share Point for easy access. The combination of KPIs, tracking, and regular review sets the stage for continuous learning and identifying new improvement initiatives.
