BTOES Insights Question: What is your primary goal in your job role at the moment?

Shyamal Addanki Answer:
As the VP of North American operations, I am introducing American businesses to a new way of looking at process automation one that is sustainable, aligned with business process goals, and that meets regulatory, compliance, and governance requirements. FireStart is the only Business Process Management software that elegantly embeds process management and workflow automation in the same platform, thereby bridging the gap between business and IT. Ultimately, my top priority is to educate and demonstrate that there are many ways to approach process automation and help companies make the right investments towards their digital future.

Shyamal Addanki Answer:

I think what many companies have learned from the global pandemic is the importance of digital transformation – a topic that has been buzzed about for years but suddenly became a clear strategic advantage. What is critical today and should be the focus for the next 12 months is to perform a deep internal analysis of every single process and ensure they are well documented, fully digital, traceable, and obviously highly automated. Another critical initiative is to simplify the application landscape. Many companies use numerous systems for very specific and often duplicated functions
how many companies have multiple ERP systems that have to be routinely synced to have the same data? This type of complexity can break the organizations’ operations in an already difficult time and is caused by having IT drive the business processes. The way forward is to have business processes as a core element and have IT support the processes with required systems and applications. This is a major shift that will vastly lower operating costs and improve process performance by almost every metric. But this wont’ happen by itself it must be a clear, intentional initiative undertaken by leadership.

BTOES Insights Question: Describe in title and bullet point form the top three trends or developments driving change in the specific sector(s) you work in.

Shyamal Addanki Answer:

Implementation Speed, and the cloud. Enterprise software is constantly challenging the status quo when it comes to deployment time-frames, and in the current situation I believe it is even more critical. Technology that can be deployed and operational faster will be favored over technology that, while perhaps richer in features or lower in price, requires longer deployment times. A big part of this trend is the increase in cloud adoption. Granted, it isn’t new anymore, but we have passed the tipping point of cloud adoption as banks and government agencies embrace the ecosystem. But the real impact isn’t just having more applications and data in the cloud – it is the interconnectivity of everyone. When companies can choose to publish or make accessible certain data points for their customers or suppliers, the way of information sharing between systems, between companies, and between processes, becomes hyper efficient. For example, if I am onboarding a new customer, instead of manually entering their data into my CRM, I can provide them with an access point in my CRM that will be automatically populated with their information. Now wrapping that interconnectivity with AI and allowing quick deployments of new technology – that will certainly have massive changes to the way we work.
