Chief Operations Strategy Officer @ Computershare Joseph Spadaford will be joining a list of incredible speakers at the Business Transformation & Operational Excellence World Summit (BTOES17). Joseph will be speaking on  'Driving Change from Crisis Through Transformation' in the Culture Transformation Summit.

Tell us about your roles & responsibilities within your organization.

I am responsible for improving operating performance across lines of business by working with different management teams to address any significant challenges to execution and/or profitable growth.

What are the critical challenges your presentation will address?

When companies experience some major disruption to their operating or business models, it can create crisis conditions that threaten the very survival of an organization. Looking at these situations as leadership opportunities can often provide a powerful setting for applying principles of operational excellence to turn the tide.

After your presentation, what are you hoping the attendees will take away with them?

Some practical and proven techniques for recognizing the window of opportunity at perhaps the most challenging times, and taking the right early steps to build confidence, and then momentum, needed to cause a positive tipping point in your turnaround situation.

What have been the biggest developments in Operational Excellence in the last 12 months, within your organization?

A recognition of the value of an intervention from "outside the business" by experts with a disciplined approach-- the ability to quickly grasp the current state and capture the collective energy of the management team to set a course and apply the right tools to achieve sustainable results.

How do you see Operational Excellence developing over the next 5-10 years within your organization?

As a key element in the leadership training/and experiences of managers at all levels, but in particular at the VP level and above.

What 3 key learnings would you like to takeaway from this conference?

1. How other companies have created a culture of operational excellence beyond small teams of CI staff.

2. The role the CEO or COO plays in championing the deployment of OPEX and how sustainable it is when there is a change in executive leadership

3. How the emerging technologies for data analytics and process automation have changed the traditional approaches of OPEX deployment

Joe has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, primarily running large operating departments and businesses.
