We caught up with Jean to ask a bit more about her speaking session, 'Designing and Preparing for the Business Future with People, Process & Technology'.

Tell us about your roles & responsibilities within your organization.

My main responsibilities focus on continuous process improvement, innovation, strategic vision, business and technology planning.

 
What are the critical challenges your presentation will address?

My presentation will revolve around adapting and evolving to best serve clients over time.

 
After your presentation, what are you hoping the attendees will take away with them?

Business transformation and operational excellence is a journey that is customizable and relies on windows of opportunity, as well as skill and drive to achieve.

 
What have been the biggest developments in Operational Excellence in the last 12 months, within your organization?

Within Vanguard, I believe we have experience a growth in closer integration and co-execution with shared service functions within investment management group.

 
How do you see Operational Excellence developing over the next 5-10 years within your organization?

From what I have seen, fintech will begin to more heavily fuel and focus the need for operational excellence.

 
What 3 key learnings would you like to takeaway from this conference?

Jean joined Vanguard in November 2002 as a municipal bond analyst in the Fixed Income Group.  Today, she leads the process excellence (PE) team for the Investment Management Group.  Prior to her association with Vanguard, Jean worked as portfolio manager for Rochdale Investment Management and credit analyst at The Hartford.  Jean began her career as a rating agency analyst for Moody’s Investors Service.  She holds a B.A. from Stanford University and a M.P.P. from Harvard University.
