Courtesy of GCI, Angie Burris wrote a synopsis of his speaking session discussing 'The Role of Culture in Transformation'. Click here to download the full presentation.
GCI is a telecommunication and technology provider operating in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. We provide an extensive network of consumer and business services in some of the most remote and challenging locations in the world. This did not happen by accident. It took the right combination of people, process, and technology.
Our people are driven by a shared culture that goes back to our founders. We are Trailblazers who strive to elevate the experience for the customers that we serve. This presentation will include an overview of how we have nurtured our culture with programs at the enterprise level that are aligned with our values.
When we put our culture into action, we drive results. Many of the communities that we serve are not accessible on the road system, so business as usual does not work here. An overview of how we successfully tackled a multi-year, multi-million-dollar project to build a reliable high-speed internet network in an area with no infrastructure and a harsh climate is an example that will be covered during this session.
As our portfolio of offerings has grown, so has the complexity related to provisioning and billing for our products and services. In this session we’ll also review our recently completed, three-year billing system conversion that consolidated multiple systems into one consolidated account.
Transformation is accelerated when we make it easier for our teams to understand our culture and collaborate to solve complex business challenges. Tools that enable us to enroll cross-functional teams in the review and discussion of business processes have saved us time and money.
