Ingersoll Rand (IR) is a leader in sustainability.  It is a top global conglomerate looking to achieve impressive and sustained results by engaging the hearts and minds of all its associates through its deployment of its operational excellence strategy.  Our lean journey started about seven years ago and is definitely proving successful over the years.  The workforce at IR continually scores above industry average in its employee engagement survey.  This is an anonymous way for employees to provide candid feedback as to what the company should be doing to enhance the employee experience.

The presentation at BTOES19 will focus on the essence of what has made our lean journey not only fun, but also hugely successful.  Our approach and methodology will be shared with the group to ensure we are sharing our lessons learned.  This methodology was developed after extensive benchmarking of other companies that had gained a strong reputation with their lean success. The presentation will include some examples of recent results achieved with our Opex deployments across our operations.  The speaker will then present how this also applies to all functional areas in any company.  Examples of transactional lean at IR will show how powerful the tools and principles are in this space that is widely overlooked.   At IR, although we started deployment across our operations, we quickly learned that we had waste in processes everywhere, especially in the functional areas.  The results we’re achieving with Opex across our functions are impressive!

Finally, as we continue to learn and grow… the next chapter in our journey is to deploy lean thinking across our channel through our Service Excellence strategy.  At IR, we enjoy experimenting, continually improving and solving problems, and most importantly, sharing our success stories and lessons learned with our channel partners to ensure we’re all experiencing the same significant rewards with respect to employee engagement and enthusiasm as well as all aspects of the business’ operational and financial performance.  This lean thinking at IR truly extends throughout the entire value stream -  from the time we develop a concept and go through our design and production phases, to the time what we service those products out in the field.  It is an exciting journey that is providing some impactful results for our employees and ultimately, for our customers!
