With the release of our 6-part report series, ‘Operational Excellence: Snapshots’, we wanted to  get the thoughts from OpEx professionals on the state of the industry. Our third part of the series, ‘Operational Excellence: Critical Challenges Facing Professionals', asked 150+ OpEx professionals what they considered to be the most Critical Challenges facing their organization.

In Operational Excellence, it’s very rare to find a challenge with a quick fix. Whether it’s a matter of Leadership failing to understand your needs, trying to maintain a culture of continuous improvement, or a wealth of roadblocks to OpEx that I’m sure you all know well, these challenges can be pervasive across all areas of your Operational Excellence goals.

But do these challenges affect the entire OpEx eco-system? Is it just your organization? Just your industry?

The BTOES Insights team recently carried out a survey, ‘Pressing Issues in Operational Excellence’. We asked over 150 OpEx professionals what they thought were the questions that desperately needed answering, including what they considered to be the biggest challenges facing their Operational Excellence goals in their organization.

Whilst responses did vary widely, there were a number of commonly recurring answers, namely changes in culture, lack of/need for resources, and understanding/investment from leadership within the organization. Here’s how the results came in:
