At Takeda, we believe all patients should have access to the medication prescribed by their healthcare professionals. Takeda also understand that some patients may have financial situations that make it difficult to pay for their prescriptions. Help At Hand provides assistance to people who do not have or have limited insurance coverage getting their Takeda medicines.
Takeda undertakes numerous patient support programs to assist patients with limited financial resources or when patient need help with prescriptions or are having trouble affording a medicine.
As of July 2018, there are more than 500+ Takeda resources, who enable thousands of patients to participate in such programs via paper-based process of C-forms for entry. Once the registration is completed, these forms are scanned and uploaded on SharePoint, where different teams across the globe, logs in to review the document and approve the assistance or finance needed along with adverse event experts (HCPs) who keeps a track of these patients receiving Takeda medicine to note any adverse events experienced by the patient.
Because of the manual nature of the process, it was challenging to keep track of all entries and reconcile the flow of documents. Thus, Takeda reach out to Cognizant to build a comprehensive platform that will enable:

Strategic objectives and scope of the Operational Excellence project
Cognizant’s ability to rise to any challenges and efforts to collaborate with Takeda on their toughest business requirements make Cognizant their preferred go to “partner” for the past 7 years.
A team of 5 Cognizant associates working on Marker research- Patient support program (MR-PSP) as final reviewer, identified the process gaps by means of VSM activity.
Lack of common communication platform and other process challenges resulted in increased lead-time and subsequently delay in approvals for PSPs.
With Cognizant’s vision on “Digital transformation”, a proposal was shared with Takeda to create a dedicated web enabled platform, with following features
The initial scope for POC covered 20 associates of Takeda with a successful POC and additional input received from Takeda to make the tool more advance.
5 Major change requests were considered and addressed by Cognizant team expanding the scope of the tool to 500+ users till date.
Cognizant provided training for the tool, which was appreciated by customer for the user-friendly experience.
